when you cry.
Wayched an interview on kyknet and it was between some well known afrikaans interviewer and mandela's right hand woman who does all his pr and late night talks with him over a glass of milk. The interviewer asked her what I think is an interesting thought (in afrikaans ofcourse). "When you cry, do you cry alone?"

tammy needs a home
New instalment: it's called "tammy needs a home". Began the adventurous but somewhat tedious task of digs searching. Saw a place in obs yesterday. "No, no, no this simply won't do" cried pinkbirdy as we walked through the jungle of a garden. "No, no, no this simply won't do" cried tammy as she saw that the only way to get to the toilet was through the kitchen.we'll keep looking.

young activist.
a little kid in my hood made these and put them in all the post boxes. I think it's pretty damn great! It reads " We are polluting our earth more and more. If we do not stop the earth will die!"
Reminds me of the wavescape poster that read "If our oceans die, will our tears still be salty?"
I'm voting this little kid in for president. Heck ya!

"do you mind me telling you all of this"
I'm sorry if I zone out while you tell me about how crappy your job is, what you went through as a child, the problems that you're having with your dad, what that guy you have a crush said or didn't say, what your colleagues at work do that annoys you, how you think he's losing too much weight, what you think about the friday night market at the old biscuit mill. How you didn't get that promotion, how you didn't get that job, how you've spread a rumour and now have to face the consequences, when you apologise for giving me the wrong ice cream, how someone forgot your birthday, how you forgot your dads birthday, how your train was late, how the clothes don't fit you, about how you think we should sell cake, about how your rent money was stolen.
About how you need to listen to someone elses voice except your own.

miskien
It's a play and it's beyond amazing! It's playing at the intimate theatre in orange street, but only till saturday. Performance is at 8:30 and tickets are R70 but less if you're a student. The most moving piece of theatre I have ever seen! " Miskien is about the spaces between people, and what we do, what we don't do, what we say, and what we keep to ourselves when we want to fill them"

I've had a week.
my week..oi vey. so I wrote a brief description because that's what I do. thy week thy name is emotion!
2 birds with 6 bullets. “you can’t talk to me like that” said the man with the dreadlocks, 10 years my senior. Aangename kenis. a name in size 9 font- the amount of energy that was expendid has gone to waste. “babe, I’m trying to not lose my good mood”. Do you understand the implications and seriousness of spreading a malicious rumour like that? Metrofail’s some of the time. “I never meant to let you down”.
I know I shouldn’t feel sorry for you but I did as well when Lindy was ill. She should have been here for this, she would have liked to have been here. “I’m weak with a stake in my heart”. “What exactly are you doing with your life right now?” My standard and yard stick is Jesus. “I realised that by me saying yes that we would grow old together which would mean that one of us would die first while the other one would have to watch.” Picking white daisies out of a bath. We really do prefer you when you aren’t sober. “I’m gonna have to write down all my stories on this serviette so I don’t forget”. No, we are not the same, I am an Angolan in this country trying to make a life for myself. I told him he played very well and he thanked me even though he couldn’t see my face or the one of the other girl standing beside me. Ja, you don’t really strike me as a smoker. “I’m starting to wonder about that myself”. He was just emotionless, I could have cried or done anything and he would just stared at me blankly. “That man laying up there, is he alive? ”Had a 45 minute conversation with him around this same time last year and now we pass each other every morning in silence. "I just feel as though you've been neglecting me" He held out the cup as she sang “we are here saviour, we are here”. Oh, besides Tammy, don't worry though, you'll be next...I have a feeling". You have been loved by someone good.
Breathe.

society
been severly dissapointd by society for a bit after reality gave me a MASSIVE slap in the face. Then today on the train I watched as a lady remembered something funny while she sat in silence. I smiled to myself as I watched her grin get wider.

Wayfarers
I'm a big fan of wayfarers. however, I dislike the see through clear non prescription lense wayfarers, so much so that i'm blogging about it and whenever I see a trendy kid wearing them, I want to rip them off of his/her face and jump up and down on them until they become tiny little shards of scratched plastic. just because you're wearing them doesn't automatically turn you into the prince or princess of cool. perhaps this opinion will change. perhaps not.

poetry and rhymes.
went for an interview. for a job at an agency that will not be named. it rhymes with ling and lons. Creative director who will not be named...rhymes with Lodger Saulcer told me that I'm odd. twice. and told me that my writing is too much like poetry and that no one would ever read it and that he got bored while reading it. he is a ...rhymes with masswhole.
I left with my head held very high and a new career path in mind.

Ollie and Quentin
Got grown up decisions to make. i dislike decisions very much. been stressed about it so i pulled out an Ollie and Quentin comic to chill out- I used to tear them out of the newspaper at my college last year- an elusive girl named Luci used to crap on me a lot for doing this. in fact I once asked her if she had any bread rolls (evidently she worked in the canteen) and she replied with "yes actually, we have none on display but we keep a secret storage of them in the back just for people like you". hmmm.
this isn't my stress reliever comic but its still an Ollie and Quentin. its pretty funny...har har.

What do you mean why?
Saw a boy that I went to junior school with the other night. He’s really clever- was on the chess team and a librarian. We chatted for a while and then he said “Ja, I’ve got this job interview tomorrow but ag, I don’t really want the job. I mean it pays REALLY well, something like R24 000 but I don’t really want it. I’m just gonna go and be like whatever.” I told him how arrogant he sounds. He laughed and asked why. He gave me a valentine once. I never gave him one back.

aint love grand!
I really don't do much all day but at the same time fill my time by making stuff. been making a lot of stuff from chalk boards to birdie mobile thingy mabobits. but this so far is my favourite. made custard cream cookies for three very important couples in my life. my mum and pops- was their 30 year wedding anniversary on monday. My dearest and oldest friend, lauren and kyle- celebrated their 1 year anniversary on saturday. and finally my bro and his girlfriend kris- cause they've stuck together through unsurmountable odds and deserve some damn cookies!

Nicholas Twickler.
Caught the train today for the first time in oh i dunno, 6 months. interesting people included a little old lady who told me that she would pay two pennies for a train ticket to wynberg and then use her third penny to buy sweets that she would eat while walking home. the most interesting person though was Nicholas Twickler.
Things you can tell about Nicholas Twickler just by looking at him:
He goes to SACS. His mom doesnt like him to lose his stuff- this is why "Nicholas Twickler" was written all over his tog bag. Is writing exams at the moment. Catches the Simons Town/ Fish Hoek Train. Wears Grasshopper school shoes. Probably plays rugby cause he's all stocky and stuff and has sausage rugby playing fingers. He also carries a pen in his top blazer pocket.
So Nicky boy got on at Newlands and then a pretty girl from Cedar House got on at Kenilworth. For Nicholas Twickler it was love at first sight. She sat down next to me and was the kind of girl who wears rings on every finger and ugg boots. long blonde hair and reading a book that contained words like bisexuality and cocaine. Nicky boy couldnt keep his eyes off of her. every third second of his train ride was filled with glances at her out of the corner of his eye. But then HE walked in and Nicholas's eyes no longer looked at ugg boot girl, but rather they looked at her "boy" friend up and down. Nicholas listened to her talk to the "boy" friend so intently though, watching her as she spoke from accross the train. shame it was sweet. then boy "friend" got off and Nick said to his friend (who was also from Sacs) "that guy looks familiar". And ugg girl opened her mouth, "He goes to Cedar house" responded Ugg boot girl. Nicholas's face now resembles a tomato and he just stares at her in shock unable to say anything. Instead he replies to his friend with a sentence filled with swear words about how tired he is from exams.
then i had to get off the train. aaaah nicholas twickler.

my favourite one of all.
I have favourites. never before. four so far, possibly five. i'm working on more, but then again these have only taken me 22 years to discover.
1.) My favourite movie. Elizabethtown. now, for all of you who think its a romcom, you are severly mistaken and have failed to listen to the words that are said in the movie.
"In that moment, I knew success, not greatness, was the only god the world served"
2.) My favourite cake. lemon drizzle. crapsack. must be moised.
3.) My favourite song. by REM strangely. not even really a big fan."at my most beautiful"
4.) thought tea was my favourite hot drink but I have unashamedly become obsessed with Cuppaccino. and i dont mean like go to Mugg 'n Bean and let them bring you one. I mean getting a take away one, putting the sugar in before you leave the shop, putting the lid back on and then taking the lid off later and licking the foam out of the lid.
5.) My favourite colour. grey. like a J M W Turner painting.
I have favourites. I like favourites.

"Life is hard for dreamers"
Old biscuit mill is a wonderous place. I purchased my first fork today. decided i'm going to buy a piece of cutlery everytime i see it so i'll have a mix and match of silver cutlery one day. but only pieces with an insignia on it or initials, you can't see it in the photo but there is a "C" on it. it's great. After my purchase I was soon interrupted by the Amelie soundtrack that was being played somewhere in the market. unmistakable. It seems that Audrey Tautou is following me from country to country.

a cheap pina colada.
You know that pina colada song? Bet you never listened to the words. Its "2 old people holding hands" sort of sweet. Its about a guy who gets bored with his lady so he puts a wanted ad in the paper for someone who likes pina coladas and walks on the beach etc. So he gets a response back in the paper and the two of them organise to meet up and it turns out that his girlfriend was the respondee and he says "but why didn't you tell me about this other side of you and where has this girl been all this time?"
Anywhoo! The point is, I just read ads like that in the paper. These put the pina colada song to shame!
"To the gorgeous guy at Wandsworth station. You dropped your battered sausage and I trod on it. Drink? Embarrassed brunette"
"To the gorgeous, tall man I see at embankment every day. I'm the girl who smiles at you. Fancy a pancake?"
"You, check shirt, orange toe nails, dark hair, on a break at westfield. We looked while I was on the phone. Drink? Dressed in black with specs"

written without a title.
Stumbled upon 3 torn out pages of a book today.
Blowing around in the wind, stained from the rain and torn from peoples footsteps.
Here's an extract
"All is a gray shadow- a weak and irregular rememberance- an indistinct regathering of feeble pleasures and plantasmagoric pains. With me this is not so. In childhood I must have felt with the energy of a man what I now find stamped upon a memory in lines as vivid, as deep, and as durable as the exergues of the carthaginian medals."
I now have the ability to complete someones story, and they could complete mine.

one for the girls
ok. so i have just found my future wedding dress.i know, can't believe that i just said that either. not even from a bridal shop. don't actually even know the name of the shop. its simple, strapless, sits on the knee, is off white and is lace/crochure/effort with a very pale peachy silk underneath. matched with a daisy crown instead of a vale and an architect husband. perfection. i hardly have enough money to eat at the moment though so i'm setting up a fund for it and will let you know where you can deposit money shortly. haha.

i'm still learning
My brother emailed me some wonderful words of brotherly wisdom. One of the reasons I carry his heart in my heart.
"Time is not waiting for me and I'm sure it is not the same for you. I did a great thing the other day,
I stood back amongst chaos and let everything carry on without me.
It was great to watch it all carry on without me.
It all becomes so clear and you realise what needs to be done."

"We are always running for
the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on
and
on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me"

wouldn't be in anyone else's shoes.
I wish I remembered my flippin' camera cable. Why? Because then I could post photos of the B E A U T I F U L farm that I'm living on for a while. My day begins by feeding a 2 week old lamb milk through a bottle, then I have a conversation about life with a horse named Frosty, afterwhich I get caught in a cow traffic jam along the path back to the farmhouse. Imagine rolling hills, silence and lots and lots of green and I think I may have just painted the perfect picture for you all. A far cry from the hustle of city life. This is a good place. Again I have climbed to the top of a tree to see His world.

Squatting
Last night i aided in the aquiring of a squat. allow me to explain. In London, squatting isn't illegal. in fact if you aquire an empty house and the owner tries to remove you, you have the right to call the police who will come and protect you. The place is huge, was an old college- has about 5 floors with the most beautiful rooms. no regrets except for tearing my pants...but they're just pants. However, I do not condone breaking into houses. time well spent though! After inspecting the buildings interior, we climbed the stairs to the roof to watch the sky fill with light.
